It is with great pride for us to announce our Dab's Angel for May 2008 - Dick Neiman

Dick is a long term HIV/AIDS activist and health care provider. He has worked over the past twenty years with PWACJ (People With AIDS Coalition of Jacksonville) and LSS (Lutheran Social Services) among other organizations. Dick was also responsible for Jacksonville AIDS Walks for many years along with other HIV/AIDS awareness, education and prevention events and initiatives.

He has always kept the people with HIV and AIDS in the forefront with concerns to HIV/AIDS funding, emergency food bank access, case management and care. Dick was an advocate for the community for the early days of the epidemic and worked tirelessly to protect those services. He is known for burning the midnight oil countless nights helping clients and fighting for the rights and care. His bio is below.

For these and many more reasons, we are honored to have Dick Neiman as our Dab's Angel for May 2008.

Employment History: U.S. Army, Union Pacific Railroad, United States Steel Corporation, Georgetown Steel Co., Mannessman Pipe and Steel, PWA Coalition of Jacksonville, Inc., and Lutheran Social Services

Interests: Spending time with my adopted son and his partner, our two wonderful pets Teka and Bailey, the gun range and work.

Accomplishments: Member of the AIDS Action Task Force of Jacksonville for 2 and half years, helped in the establishment of our area first Consortia; the Northeast Florida AIDS, Network. The NFAN's longest serving board member. Created and founded along with seven (7) other persons the People With AIDS Coaltion of Jacksonville, Inc., serving as its Executive Director and Director of Development for almost 13 years.

During that time established Community House in the Riverside area, the Walk of HOPE, Jacksonville and northeast Florida's first AIDS Walk. Co-Chair and member of the Jacksonville Title II Consortia. Co-Chair and member of the Title I HIV/AIDS Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida. Worked in the Duval County Detention Center as a HIV/AIDS Educator and for the last few years as a Case Manager and Program Director of AIDS Care and Education of Lutheran Social Services.
