Welcome to another day in m life. Today is Thursday and I hope you are having a safe and great week so far. We are closing in on the end of another work week before Dab the AIDS Bear heads out for another weekend of adventures.
Last night, Dab the AIDS Bear and I went to a seminar being given by fellow long term survivor and activist Nelson Vergel. Red Hispana brought Vergel into Fort Lauderdale to give his presentation on HIV and AIDS. It was great seeing Nelson again and he gave a fantastic seminar. He covered everything from the effects of HIV and medications to aging with HIV. It was a very informative talk and I was glad we had a good turnout considering there were two other events last night. You can see Nelson with Dab the AIDS Bear and me in the blog picture today.
After the speech, it was time to head to the candlelight vigil for the recent GLBT youth who have committed suicide due to be bullied. There was a huge gathering at Alibi's and a seas of people wearing purple in support of ending bullying for our youth. At times, it was hard to hold back the tears for me. Even though it was many years ago, I remember how hard it was to be a gay teen and being bullied for it.
If you are a gay teen and being bullied, please know it does get better. Also, I urge you to contact the Trevor Project either by phone or through their website. Just know it got better for me after high school and college. And it will for you also.
Today is going to be a busy day. I have errands to run, prescriptions to fill and hopefully get in a workout at the gym before Dab the AIDS Bear and I get ready to hit the road again.
I hope you have a great Thursday. Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.
