Robert Breining
February 2011

It is with great honor we announce Robert Breining as our Dab the AIDS Bear's Angel for February 2011.
Sports fan and self-proclaimed "cyber-activist" Robert Breining used to be in the closet about his HIV status. Now he hosts his own online radio show and runs a social-network for HIV-positive folks.
Robert grew up in Northeast Philadelphia with 2 loving parents and 2 sisters. Robert has been playing soccer since the age of 6. He came out of the closet to his family at age 17 and was happy to finally be free. Little did he know in 2001 he would be put back in that closet with his HIV diagnosis. His counts were good and did not need to starts medication right away. So it was easy for him to push the diagnosis under the rug. It took Robert 5 years to come to terms with his positive status.
He wanted to do something that would help others. So Robert started a blog to share his journey. Robert needed support from others living with HIV and online was his only resource. He was over the numbers and statistics so he wanted to know he was not alone.
Robert launched POZIAM, a social network for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in 2007. He is dedicated to giving others with HIV/AIDS some hope and a place to just be themselves. In 2008 Robert introduced the HIV community to POZIAM Radio, a weekly internet radio show/podcast that is live every Sunday at 9pm EST.
In 2009 Robert shared his story in Logo's HIV+ME web series with the fabulous Ongina of Rupauls Drag Race. Robert told his story and was a guest on the Talking About TV Show. Robert was featured on the cover of HIV Plus magazine with fellow blogger Justin B. Smith in March of 2010. Robert was honored as one of the top 25 LGBT leaders in the fight against AIDS by HIV Plus Magazine & APLA in 2010.
Robert spoke at the ADAP Advocacy Association's Annual ADAP Conference in 2009. He later then became a board member of the ADAP Advocacy Association(aaa+) to be a part of the solution to end ADAP Waiting lists in America. Robert participated in 2 PSA's that the ADAP Advocacy Association released in February of 2011.
Robert is also one of our Dab the AIDS Bear's Ambassadors of Hope and has just a great job representing the project at conference, AIDS Walks and other events.
For these and many more reasons, we are honored to name Robert Breining as our Dab the AIDS Bear's Angel for February 2011.
