It is with great honor that Dab the AIDS Bear Project names William E. Arnold our Dab the AIDS Bear Angel for July 2009.
Bill Arnold is a longtime HIV/AIDS activist and consumer organizer and has been active in developing HIV/AIDS Organizations and HIV/AIDS policy at the local, State and national level since the mid 1980’s.
He is a founding director of The Title II Community AIDS National Network and is currently it’s C.E.O.
TII*CANN is active nationally and at state and local levels in advocacy and policy issues involving Ryan White Title II funding and the program and client issues of Title II funded programs. These issues tend to center on access to appropriate HIV/AIDS care and treatments for HIV+ American.
Mr. Arnold is also a founder of The ADAP Working Group, a Washington, DC based advocacy coalition of HIV/AIDS organizations, medical care provider, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and others. The ADAP Working Group advocates at the federal level for ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program) resources. He is currently the Director of the ADAP Working Group.
His involvement with grass roots AIDS work has included roles from Board Chair and Board Member, to “Buddy” to AIDS Educator & pre & post test HIV Counselor. Among his involvements:
Chair, The Dutchess County AIDS Consortium , Poughkeepsie, NY, Chair, The Dutchess County (NY) HIV Health Services Planning Council (Title I), Poughkeepsie, NY, Chair, Angel Food East, Kingston, NY. CAB, Albany Medical College, Albany, NY.
Board and staff positions at AIDS Related Community Services (ARCS), Newburgh, NY and Elmsford, NY. Active in The Ulster County AIDS Consortium, NY, The Sullivan County AIDS Task Force, NY, The Orange County AIDS Task Force, NY, The Rockland County AIDS Awareness Task Force, NY, The Putnam County AIDS Awareness Task Force, NY, Mid Hudson Prevention Planning Group, NY, Board, Multi County Community Development Corp. Highland, NY
Mr. Arnold has testified on HIV/AIDS issues before several county legislatures, the New York State Assembly and the United States Congress on numerous occasions.
Mr. Arnold is also active in global AIDS activities as Secretary & Treasurer of AIDSETI (AIDS Empowerment and Treatment International) an international association of PWA led AIDS service organizations (NGO’s) who actively provide HIV/AIDS medical treatment to their members - in 14 countries in African and the Caribbean.
Bill has lived his life with passion advocating for those dealing with HIV and AIDS and we feel he embodies the full and true meaning of being a Dab the AIDS Bear Angel.
